dell inspiron 1525 battery with 3-year warranty

The dell inspiron 1525 battery can be charged to 80 percent of capacity in 30 minutes, which could be useful for travellers who only have a limited amount of time near an electric outlet, and will go 1,000 charges before the dell laptop battery’s capacity begins degrading. That’s a charge a day for three years — or four years if it’s only used on weekdays — so it should last the average life of a business laptop. Common laptop batteries today start to degrade after 300 charges.

Lithium Ion Batteries (Li-Ion) batteries will lose effectiveness if they are overcharged or left in full charge without use. For example, if you rarely use the battery and keep the laptop plugged in, the battery will lose effectiveness. There can also be problems if the dell laptop battery is fully charged and then not used, then charged again

Dell Latitude D830 Battery Question

Need urgent help on my Dell Latitude D830 Battery

my laptop battery meter keeps flashing 0range, orange, orange, then green.. this started friday morning i was using my laptop then all of a sudden it just all of a sudden turned off.. then the battery kept flashing with those color.. When the AC cable/the charger is not connected it wont turn off but then its is connected it works, then if you unplug the cable it will shutdown again for nor reason.. I need help! it guide booklet it says you need to cool the computer and battery and it says that the dell d830 battery maybe too hot to charge.. but the battery is not even hot at all.. i try to eject the dell latitude d830 battery but the stupid ish wont eject the battery wont come out even if i pull it.. but if i pull it real hard it may break.. need help pips please!

Dell Latitude D830 Battery Best Answer:

I copied this directly from the owner’s manual of my Inspiron Laptop…should be the same for a Latitude.

If the battery status light flashes orange or is a steady orange the
dell latitude d830 battery charge is low or depleted. Connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
If the battery status light flashes green and orange, the battery is too hot to charge. Shut down the
computer, disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet, and then let the battery and computer
cool to room temperature.

If the battery status light rapidly flashes orange, the laptop battery may be defective. Contact Dell.

Other Answer

Hi. That flash code means your dell d830 battery is near the end of its lifetime. Weak and not rechargeable. You probably need a replacement battery. As far as removing the battery, make sure the latch on the bottom is completely pushed to the un-lock position. Have someone hold it there while you pull the battery out. If it STILL won’t come out you may need a small screwdriver to help it along. If you do this try to have any damage on the battery, not the case, because you may be replacing this anyway.

Dell Vostro Vostro 1500 Dead

Question:

“I have owned my Vostro 1500 for nearly a year and a half since purchasing it from the Outlet. I have had no problems at all until Sunday night when it just died. No warning. Just dead. I first tried these suggestions found here and elsewhere on the web… Press Fn key while pressing power button, reseat DIMM A & B. No signs of life.

Since the dell vostro 1500 battery is out of warranty I feel like I have nothing to lose, so this morning I took everything apart looking for anything that looked melted or dislodged or overly dusty. Everything looks great. My husband has the same laptop, so I have been able to test the battery and AC adapter and in his and both work fine. One thing I have noticed though is this. When my dell AC adapter is plugged into the wall but not into the computer, the light is green. The second I plug it into the laptop, the light goes out. If I then plug the AC into the good laptop, the green light does not come back on until I separate the AC cord from the adapter (brick part) and plug it back in. This leads me to think that it could be a problem with the DC Power Jack where the AC Adapter is plugged in. But why wouldn’t it still work with the vostro 1500 battery?? Why would that cause it to just shut down mid use? Is there any chance it can be revived? This laptop has been like my right arm. I feel lost without it.

Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I’m out of work, this couldn’t have happened at a worse time. My resume is on that computer! Yes….I know I should have backed it up…”

Answer:”

Sounds like your mother board is shot. Looks like it would be something possibly in the power supply section.

As to your data the hard drive may very well be good and you could get an laptop ac adapter to put the drive in and plug it into your husbands computer to be able to access your files.

this is starting to become a pattern with Dell. This is about my 5th product that has had premature failure. First it was issues with the laptop batteries at our company. Then 3 of our Optiplex GX280 systems died with defective capacitors on the mainboard, they replaced the mainboards within the short extended warranty window but then about 6 months later, the new mainboards failed again, same issue – oozing capacitors. By now the extended warranty period was over and they wouldn’t replace them when we called, so we had to toss those. 6 months ago we ordered 30 dell 2208WFP flat panel monitors. Almost all but 3 have died from backlight failure. Luckily they carry a 3 year warranty and dell has replaced all of them with refurbs so far. Now this with the vostro 1500. So after all of this, I have finally made the switch and am now buying strictly HP and some IBM/Lenovo. I just ordered an HP proliant dl380 g5p and I will say it is one top notch piece of hardware. I did have an issue with what HP specs state on their website and what was delivered with the server. (it was missing a dell vostro 1500 laptop battery for the write cache on the RAID card, they promptly shipped out the missing part overnight). At any rate, I contacted dell regarding this vostro 1500 to see about getting it inspected for premature failure/defect. I pretty much got the run-around. First few calls I was transferred to different departments that were closed. When I finally made my case to someone about this laptop, and all the troubleshooting i tried (swapped out mem, replaced dell vostro 1500 battery pack, diff power supply) and how this has to be manufacture defect (I also brought up the Nvidia GPU issue), I was told my only option was to pay a 1 time $49 fee to have him troubleshoot over the phone with me or contact warranty repair at 800-822-8965. I also asked about how I can get an investigation going in to a possible recall or system defect, volunteering to mail my laptop in as it is useless. I was told just to call the warranty repair dept.

Problems With a Dell Laptop Battery

While laptops are as common as water and the air we breathe, it seems many people do not know how to maintain the most important part of the machine–its power source, the battery. The Dell Inspiron 1525 battery is adaptable to many different versions of Dell computers. Battery problems generally have been the result of poor power management and overlooking other problems, such as a loose power jack.

Types
The Dell Inspiron laptop can use three types of batteries. The four cell, the six cell or the 9 cell laptop battery. The higher the number, the greater amount of stored power. A four cell under typical conditions can last 1.5 to 2 hours. A 6 cell can last 2.5 to 3 hours. A 9 cell can last 3.5 to 4 hours. Determine your average usage and consider whether you need to buy a battery with more cells.(9-cell dell laptop battery : dell inspiron 1525 battery ,dell inspiron 1520 battery, dell xps m1530 battery, dell xps m1330 battery)

Considerations
In addition to considering the amount of stored power available, you should look at the power saving practices of your computer. Go to your “computer control panel”. Go to “Mobile PC or Power” settings. Go to change battery settings. Consider adjusting the settings to “power saving” or “balanced” to conserve battery power.

Prevention/Solution
Clean the battery’s metal contacts with a cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol. This helps the dell vostro 1510 battery run efficiently.
Do not allow your fully charged battery to sit unused for more than two or three weeks. Never let a Lithium-Ion battery completely discharge

In 2006, there was a recall on certain Dell models made between 2004 and 2006 because of problems with certain Sony batteries.
Often it is not the dell mini 10 battery that causes a problem, but the DC power jack. The jack connects the computer to the AC power adapter. If you have dropped or shaken your computer too much, it may have a loose or damaged power jack. Before seeking to replace your computer or battery, check the power jack.

Dell XPS M1330 battery not detected

Dell XPS M1330 battery not detected
Question:”Today suddenly my xps m1330 went down and only power LED was started flashing blue/orange. I presumed that it was due to unknowingly power source was disconnected and now battery is also drained.

I checked the power source and restarted the PC. But still the orange LED was flashing. Checked the dell xps m1330 battery status in BIOS and in windows as well: its shows 99% percent charged. So to test the battery I just removed power sources but again PC went down :(

Now the situation is that both BIOS & Windows says there is no xps m1330 battery in the system. Where both at this location it was saying that battery was charged 99%. So I just diagnosed system with In built utility and it returns error code 0146 2000-0146. Seems this error is reflection to disk issue.

Still pc is running with AC power source but can not able sustain for a second on laptop battery. I am thinking this should be H/W issue but it would be great help if anybody has solution or workaround for this issue.”

Same Problem:”In my task bar, my battery icon has an X through it and it is telling me that my battery is not being detected. I have no problems with the power cord. And I have not had any error messages, I can run my XPS M1330 off the battery. A diagnostic check says everything is fine, with the pc and the battery. What is going on?”

Solution:
“The error code 0146 and the battery are two separate problems. First the dell xps m1330 battery problem is simple, it’s bad and needs replaced. It being bad can refer to a developed short, a fail safe kicked in, or it’s simply worn out. It is a battery after all, ad they don’t last forever, the more you use them the quicker they wear out. A bad battery causing an issue is vary common with Dell machines, and a false battery reading with a failing battery is also common. The orange flashing battery light is the indicator that the dell xps m1330 battery isn’t working properly, either by fail safe or wear.

The error code 0146 Is from the short test on the hard drive and indicates the a sector is going bad, and eventually the hard drive is going to fail. At this point, your hard drive may last days, or months. Either way, I suggest that you back up all important data, and purchase a new hard drive for the imminent failure. You might even go ahead and set it up, this way you’ll be prepared when it does go, and you won’t have any downtime. ”

Dell xps m1330 battery is reaching the end of its usable life

Dell xps m1330 battery is reaching the end of its usable life

Question:”There’s been a couple of times that I’m using the computer and it will completely black out- even if it still has charge. When I try to start it back up again, it does absolutely nothing. I always thought it just needed time to cool down. That happened to me today the only thing different is I got this message:

“Your laptop battery is able to charge normally, however it is reaching the end of it’s usable life. You can experience a longer operating time with a new battery. You might want to consider purchasing a replacement battery now.”

and apparently this is a common problem after about 12-13 months, you know, right after the 1 year warranty runs out. Seeing as I will probably replace the whole laptop in another year or so, I’d really like to avoid spending $100 on a new dell xps m1330 battery if I can.”

Solution:”You can change the battery yourself easily.

A battery is only good for a certain number of charge / discharge cycles, and after that it is finished. It sounds as if you may be at the end of it’s life.To check the dell xps m1330 battery charge, press and release the status button on the battery charge gauge to illuminate the charge level lights. Each light represents approximately 20 percent of the total battery charge. For example, if four of the lights are on, the battery has 80 percent of its charge remaining. If no lights appear, the battery has no charge.

Also, if you hardly ever use your laptop outside your house I strongly recommended you do NOT buy a new battery, they run up to 200 dollars and you can just take out your old battery, and use power directly from the outlet, this will work fine.

If you PC is under warranty you can obtain a new dell xps m1330 battery for free from dell, just call them. Warranty period is typically 1 year from purchase date.

Now if you want to buy a new battery, it’s probably going to have to be purchased from dell,or buy a replacement 9-cell dell xps m1330 battery just go here: http://www.diggingshop.com/laptop-battery/dell-xps-m1330.htm

and purchase the battery for your PC model.”

Maximize your laptop battery life

Collected by www.diggingshop.com

When I first got my laptop 1 year ago , my laptop battery life was about 3 hours. Now after daily use (mostly with plug but using battery as well) it is down to 1.5 hrs which is basically useless. SO I am buying a new dell d620 battery from diggingshop.com?the battery shop suggest:

“New dell laptop battery come in a discharged condition and must be fully charged before use it. It is recommended that you fully charge and discharge your new dell laptop battery 3 times to allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity.

Rechargeable battery will undergo self-discharging when left unused.Don’t store notebook batteries completely discharged. It should always be stored in a fully charged status and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.

Fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. With lithium-ion dell laptop batteries, partial charges and discharges are best on a regular basis. These batteries do not suffer from the memory effect.

With the use of your dell d620 battery, the battery life will be shorter and shorter. How to keep the battery a longer life is the primary problem that the computer users should pay attention to ”

It turns out that the single, most important aspect to maximizing a laptop battery life is something that I wouldn’t have thought of: matching the battery to its charger. In the diggingshop.com’s words: “Make sure your laptop battery and adapter match and you have a quality adapter.”

That, further, minimizes any manufacturing differences that may occur over time.

The number two factor in laptop battery life? Temperature.

The fact is that laptops just aren’t designed for … well, for laps. If you look at the bottom of your laptop you’ll see it probably has feet (or more likely, bumps or rubber pads) that lift it off of any flat surface you might put it on. That creates very important space for ventilation. If you block that space, with say your lap, it’s likely that you’ll be causing the laptop to run hotter than it should. If you do this regularly, you’ll likely shorten the lifespan of the laptop’s batteries.

Again, in diggingshop.com’s words: “Rechargeable dell d620 battery will undergo self-discharging when left unused.Don’t store notebook batteries completely discharged. It should always be stored in a fully charged status and kept in a cool, dry and clean place.”

Temperature cycling – allowing the laptop to become very cold and then warm, repeatedly – say by leaving it in your car overnight in cold weather regularly can also adversely impact the battery’s life.

A concern that I’ve had for a long time is whether or not leaving a laptop plugged in for extended periods of time would harm the battery. Today’s designs pretty much expect that type of usage, so it’s not the issue I was afraid it might be. Good thing, too … my laptop is plugged in and running pretty much 24×7.

Finally: “Dont use laptop battery if it is not necessary because every charge/discharge time may shorten hp compaq batterys life. .”

Dell XPS M1530 battery won’t charge, plugged in.

Collected by www.diggingshop.com
Dell XPS M1530’s battery won’t charge, plugged in.

Q:

“My Dell XPS M1530 battery won’t charge, all of a sudden. It says “0% available (plugged in, not charging). When I boot it up and enter setup (F2 at the DELL spash screen), it doesn’t recognise my adapter (D series, the very same one supplied with the laptop), and mentions that my “dell xps m1530 battery has experienced a permanent failure and needs to be replaced”.

I get no error message while booting normally either, simply the “0%” icon in the task tray in Vista. The xps m1530 battery status LED on the front of the laptop is flashing red, as if to say the battery is simply undercharged.. but the battery just won’t charge! I’ve left my laptop off and plugged in for 2 days, and it hasn’t charged the laptop battery.

It turns on just fine with the AC adapter plugged in and battery removed, the same with the battery installed. I’ve checked all the contacts on the battery and adapter, they are clean and not broken. I don’t have any other adapters or laptops to test with.. when I run the self help diagnostic tool (in the Dell Support Center), it just turns my laptop off. ”

Best Solution

I’ve seen this type of thing happen when the AC adapter was bad. Try purchasing another adapter and see if that works. It doesn’t have to be a DELL. It just has to be the same DC volts and AMPS. That is shown on the back of the adapter.

Don’t go plugging your adapter into another laptop (like some people might suggest). If it is the wrong amperage or DC volts you can damage the laptop! Someone with 10 years experience ought to know that.

Solution 2#

AC Adaptors do go bad sometimes. With the computer OFF, plug it in for an hour, then check Control Panel:Power Options: Power Meter to see if the battery for dell xps m1530 is charged. (If the charger is not supplying the proper wattage, it may run the computer but not charge it.)
If you have access to a similar computer, try your charger on the other computer, and the other computer’s adaptor on yours. You may have a malfunction in the charging circuit which should be covered by your Dell Warranty.

I like to use the Control Panel Power Meter because you can plug and plug the adaptor and see what the computer is seeing.
