Extended Battery Warranty
Since batteries are critical to the operation of hp laptop, Diggingshop offers an extended battery warranty that provides coverage on batteries for up to three years – that is 2 years beyond the 1-year standard limited warranty that comes with all laptop batteries. It can also help reduce the costs and effort involved in replacing out-of-warranty batteries.
A fast-charging laptop battery that promises to last at least three years without any degradation in performance is coming to the market as an option with HP laptops. The Sonata battery is the product of three years of development work by Boston-Power and will be rebranded by HP as the “Enviro” battery and offered from early 2009 with select machines.
The hp dv4000 battery can be charged to 80% of capacity in 30 minutes, which could be useful for travellers who only have a limited amount of time near an electric outlet, and will go 1,000 charges before the battery’s capacity begins degrading. That’s a charge a day for three years — or four years if it’s only used on weekdays — so it should last the average life of a business laptop. Common laptop batteries today start to degrade after 300 charges.high quality laptop battery with 3-year warranty .such as : dell inspiron 1525 battery , dell inspiron 1545 battery , dell inspiron 15 battery , dell inspiron 1520 battery , dell inspiron 1720 battery , hp pavilion dv9000 battery …

Dell Latitude D830 Battery Question
Need urgent help on my Dell Latitude D830 Battery
my laptop battery meter keeps flashing 0range, orange, orange, then green.. this started friday morning i was using my laptop then all of a sudden it just all of a sudden turned off.. then the battery kept flashing with those color.. When the AC cable/the charger is not connected it wont turn off but then its is connected it works, then if you unplug the cable it will shutdown again for nor reason.. I need help! it guide booklet it says you need to cool the computer and battery and it says that the dell d830 battery maybe too hot to charge.. but the battery is not even hot at all.. i try to eject the dell latitude d830 battery but the stupid ish wont eject the battery wont come out even if i pull it.. but if i pull it real hard it may break.. need help pips please!
Dell Latitude D830 Battery Best Answer:
I copied this directly from the owner’s manual of my Inspiron Laptop…should be the same for a Latitude.
If the battery status light flashes orange or is a steady orange the
dell latitude d830 battery charge is low or depleted. Connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
If the battery status light flashes green and orange, the battery is too hot to charge. Shut down the
computer, disconnect the computer from the electrical outlet, and then let the battery and computer
cool to room temperature.
If the battery status light rapidly flashes orange, the laptop battery may be defective. Contact Dell.
Other Answer
Hi. That flash code means your dell d830 battery is near the end of its lifetime. Weak and not rechargeable. You probably need a replacement battery. As far as removing the battery, make sure the latch on the bottom is completely pushed to the un-lock position. Have someone hold it there while you pull the battery out. If it STILL won’t come out you may need a small screwdriver to help it along. If you do this try to have any damage on the battery, not the case, because you may be replacing this anyway.

Dell Vostro Vostro 1500 Dead
Question:
“I have owned my Vostro 1500 for nearly a year and a half since purchasing it from the Outlet. I have had no problems at all until Sunday night when it just died. No warning. Just dead. I first tried these suggestions found here and elsewhere on the web… Press Fn key while pressing power button, reseat DIMM A & B. No signs of life.
Since the dell vostro 1500 battery is out of warranty I feel like I have nothing to lose, so this morning I took everything apart looking for anything that looked melted or dislodged or overly dusty. Everything looks great. My husband has the same laptop, so I have been able to test the battery and AC adapter and in his and both work fine. One thing I have noticed though is this. When my dell AC adapter is plugged into the wall but not into the computer, the light is green. The second I plug it into the laptop, the light goes out. If I then plug the AC into the good laptop, the green light does not come back on until I separate the AC cord from the adapter (brick part) and plug it back in. This leads me to think that it could be a problem with the DC Power Jack where the AC Adapter is plugged in. But why wouldn’t it still work with the vostro 1500 battery?? Why would that cause it to just shut down mid use? Is there any chance it can be revived? This laptop has been like my right arm. I feel lost without it.
Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. I’m out of work, this couldn’t have happened at a worse time. My resume is on that computer! Yes….I know I should have backed it up…”

Answer:”
Sounds like your mother board is shot. Looks like it would be something possibly in the power supply section.
As to your data the hard drive may very well be good and you could get an laptop ac adapter to put the drive in and plug it into your husbands computer to be able to access your files.
this is starting to become a pattern with Dell. This is about my 5th product that has had premature failure. First it was issues with the laptop batteries at our company. Then 3 of our Optiplex GX280 systems died with defective capacitors on the mainboard, they replaced the mainboards within the short extended warranty window but then about 6 months later, the new mainboards failed again, same issue – oozing capacitors. By now the extended warranty period was over and they wouldn’t replace them when we called, so we had to toss those. 6 months ago we ordered 30 dell 2208WFP flat panel monitors. Almost all but 3 have died from backlight failure. Luckily they carry a 3 year warranty and dell has replaced all of them with refurbs so far. Now this with the vostro 1500. So after all of this, I have finally made the switch and am now buying strictly HP and some IBM/Lenovo. I just ordered an HP proliant dl380 g5p and I will say it is one top notch piece of hardware. I did have an issue with what HP specs state on their website and what was delivered with the server. (it was missing a dell vostro 1500 laptop battery for the write cache on the RAID card, they promptly shipped out the missing part overnight). At any rate, I contacted dell regarding this vostro 1500 to see about getting it inspected for premature failure/defect. I pretty much got the run-around. First few calls I was transferred to different departments that were closed. When I finally made my case to someone about this laptop, and all the troubleshooting i tried (swapped out mem, replaced dell vostro 1500 battery pack, diff power supply) and how this has to be manufacture defect (I also brought up the Nvidia GPU issue), I was told my only option was to pay a 1 time $49 fee to have him troubleshoot over the phone with me or contact warranty repair at 800-822-8965. I also asked about how I can get an investigation going in to a possible recall or system defect, volunteering to mail my laptop in as it is useless. I was told just to call the warranty repair dept.

Problems With a Dell Laptop Battery
While laptops are as common as water and the air we breathe, it seems many people do not know how to maintain the most important part of the machine–its power source, the battery. The Dell Inspiron 1525 battery is adaptable to many different versions of Dell computers. Battery problems generally have been the result of poor power management and overlooking other problems, such as a loose power jack.
Types
The Dell Inspiron laptop can use three types of batteries. The four cell, the six cell or the 9 cell laptop battery. The higher the number, the greater amount of stored power. A four cell under typical conditions can last 1.5 to 2 hours. A 6 cell can last 2.5 to 3 hours. A 9 cell can last 3.5 to 4 hours. Determine your average usage and consider whether you need to buy a battery with more cells.(9-cell dell laptop battery : dell inspiron 1525 battery ,dell inspiron 1520 battery, dell xps m1530 battery, dell xps m1330 battery)
Considerations
In addition to considering the amount of stored power available, you should look at the power saving practices of your computer. Go to your “computer control panel”. Go to “Mobile PC or Power” settings. Go to change battery settings. Consider adjusting the settings to “power saving” or “balanced” to conserve battery power.
Prevention/Solution
Clean the battery’s metal contacts with a cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol. This helps the dell vostro 1510 battery run efficiently.
Do not allow your fully charged battery to sit unused for more than two or three weeks. Never let a Lithium-Ion battery completely discharge
In 2006, there was a recall on certain Dell models made between 2004 and 2006 because of problems with certain Sony batteries.
Often it is not the dell mini 10 battery that causes a problem, but the DC power jack. The jack connects the computer to the AC power adapter. If you have dropped or shaken your computer too much, it may have a loose or damaged power jack. Before seeking to replace your computer or battery, check the power jack.

Dell Studio 1535 Laptop battery not charging
Dell Studio 1535 Laptop battery “plugged in, not charging”
Question:“I have a Dell Studio 1535 laptop, and when i have the battery charger plugged in, the dell studio 1535 battery icon says “0% available (plugged in, not charging)”, and if i pull out the cord, the laptop shuts down straight away. Can this be fixed, and if so, how? I bought this laptop new around 6 months ago. Anyones help would be wicked!”
“Dell may well have knowingly sent you a faulty ac adapter. This is an issue many have suffered from. My laptop has all my work and school documents. When I accidentally move the cord like you mentioned, the whole computer shuts down like crashing and I lose all of my data. Not to mention these crash shut downs will harm my 1 yr old laptop.
I haven’t found a solution to this problem yet. I’ll definitely post it if I do. At this point, in an effort to promote accountability on Dells part and consumer advocacy I’m going to every complaint and tech site I know of to warn others. Dell should have been upfront as they knew of this design flaw. ”

Answer:“Understanding dell studio 1535 battery charging issues
If the notebook battery is not charging or the notebook does not indicate that the battery is charging, the most likely scenario is that the battery itself is operating correctly, but its power management software may have become corrupt. In order to correct the problem, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the power management software by using the Device Manager. This document will explain how to uninstall and reinstall the ACPI Battery listings in Windows Vista, as well as how to obtain and install updated BIOS files, if needed to correct other dell studio 1536 battery issues.
Uninstalling and reinstalling power management software in Windows Vista
In order to correct problems with the battery’s power management software, follow the steps below.
1. Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager .
2. Expand the Batteries category.
3. Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method dell studio 1555 Battery listing, and select Uninstall .
WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.
4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes .
Alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes .
Windows will scan your computer for hardware that doesn’t have drivers installed, and will install the drivers needed to manage your dell studio 1735 battery‘s power. The notebook should now indicate that the battery is charging.”

HP Compaq NC8430 Laptop Battery Question And Answer
Tell me please, should I remove the hp compaq nc8430 battery if the notebook is on AC mainly and just about once or twice a week on battery power?
And some other essential questions:
1) As I know, full discharge of Li-Ion battery is harmful for it – so I think that 3% charge shown by Windows or HP laptop Battery check is about 20% of real, physical charge-so full discharge is impossible- am I right?
2) When I turning my notebook off for the night time, I unplug the hp compaq nc8430 charger off the AC too – is it right?
3) So, when the notebook is off or hibernated it shouldn’t consume any power, but when I turn on the notebook after night – the charge level is not full – (I guess that that it’s a normal physical process somthing like internal resistance or else) – but when the AC is back, the battery begins charging – so if this miserable charge counts by the hp nc8430 battery controller as a new lifetime charging cycle or not?
4) Maybe it is more reasonable to keep the notebook always on AC without removing the battery and the controller will switch the charging device off when the battery doesn’t need any more of charge? But wouldn’t it decrease the battery’s total capability faster?
5)Is it important – how many percent charge left in laptop battery when I begin charging it? Or I should discharge it by the time the notebook switches off and can’t start?

Maximum compaq nc8430 battery life results from keeping it cool – and at below 50% charge when not in use. When it’s in the laptop, it should chage to 100% and may remain warm after charging as a result of heat from the machine itself. So the answer is yes – except that if you need to use it on battery power a couple of times a week, you’ll need to remember to reinsert it to get it fully charged before relying on battery power.
1) The battery will automatically stop itself from discharging at a “safe” voltage.
Full discharge is not impossible – it will happen but very slowly over time if the hp compaq nc8230 battery is stored – due to natural discharge internal chemical reaction and the fact that it is powering its internal electronics
2)Unplugging the ac adaptor is fine as a safety measure, (possible fire or night-time lightning strikes to the power cables) but is not otherwise necessary . If you don’t have a battery fitted, then auto wake-up (eg for incoming fax) won’t of course be available
3. Yes – there is small power consumption on hibernate, from the battery if ac power is unavailable. It’s still connected to the power arbitration circuitry. But the small recharge does not to my knowledge count towards the lifetime cycle count.
4. Personally, I think the fact that the 8510p battery is held in a full state of charge and kept warm will have a greater effect on its life.
5. A properly working battery will measure input and output watts, keeping track or and reporting its charge state. With many short and shallow discharge cycles, its knowledge of its charge state will drift from reality but will otherwise not do any harm. A discharge to 5% or less while working normally follwed by a full recharge should recalibrate the hp 8710w battery. There is no need to discharge to the switch-off and can’t restart stage, although the deeper the discharge, the more accurate should be the calibration.
Having said all of that, it only takes one cell to fail – or a problem in the battery’s internal control system – for the battery to fail completely – and one of these events is more probable than an end of life on cycle count. Consequently, in your position of needing battery power a couple of times a week, I wouldn’t bother taking it out at all – unless your machine keeps it unduly warm.

How to repair a battery that can’t be chargering anymore
How to repair a battery that can’t be chargering anymore?
Sometimes you CAN “rejuvinate” a rechargeable dell xps m1530 battery that doesn’t want to take a charge anymore. You first need to have a basic understanding of WHY the battery is not taking the charge in the first place.
As a battery is used/charged/recharged, it develops little “hairs” of chemical that create an electrical link between the positive and the negative parts inside. This is, in effect, a short circuit inside the battery. If you are trying to recharge the battery, it appears to be charging, but once you take the charger off, there’s still no juice available. This is because of this “short” inside the battery.
I had four rechargeable laptop batteries for an old laptop, and this procedure worked just fine on them. Just note that this does NOT work every time. In my opinion, for every 10 batteries you ‘rejuvinate’, you may end up tossing 3 of them in the garbage! But then, what have you got to lose?
Basically, you will be “burning” out those little “chemical hairs” with a reverse charge.
You will need access to an automotive battery, and a pair of booster cables. You will need to determine the polarity of the dead vgp-bps2c battery …. Which is the positive tab, and which is the negative one on the battery?
Please note that I am NOT RESPONSIBLE for injury or damage to anything! You do this at your own risk. Read the instructions below BEFORE you do any of this!
Do this OUTSIDE, and wear safety glasses and gloves! You can never be too careful!
Put the booster cables onto the automotive battery. The red goes on the Positive (+), and the black on the
Negative (-). Make sure the other ends of the booster cables don’t touch one another. Very similar to boosting someone’s car that won’t start, except we are going to do something different!
Now take your dead hp dv2000 battery, and lay it so you can see the Positive and Negative tabs on it. Best to leave it on the ground, or a flat spot somewhere, rather than hold it in your hands.
What we do next is to apply a very FAST, REVERSE CHARGE from the automotive battery to the dead computer vgp-bps8 battery. The thing to note here is that it is a very quick, fast reverse charge. DO NOT CLAMP the booster cables to the dead battery!
Take the black, Negative (-) booster cable lead, and hold it onto the POSITIVE (+) tab of the dead battery.
Yes, that’s right. It’s backwards. This is half of the job.
Now, take the Positive (+) booster cable lead, and TAP it ONCE on the NEGATIVE (-) tab of the dead laptop battery, and remove it immediately! DO NOT HOLD IT IN PLACE!!!! Your connection here should not be a connection, but just about as long as it takes for you to blink your eye quickly. A QUICK TAP! ….. ONLY DO THIS ONCE!
You may be tempted to do this again, because it might look like nothing happened! DON’T! …. What you just did is apply a very big amount of reverse current to the old dead cell, even though you didn’t see anything. (at most, you may see a small spark). Hopefully, this was JUST enough to burn the ‘chemical hairs’ off, but not enough to damage the cells in the dell inspiron 1520 battery. That’s why it is important not to hold the lead on for more than a 1/10 of a second, and not to try doing it again.
Remove all leads, put your automotive cell and cables away. Try charging your ‘dead’ sony vgp-bps8 battery now. If the above procedure did indeed ‘fix’ your sony vgp-bps9 battery, it will behave JUST LIKE A NEW ONE!
If not, you can repeat the above procedure a couple of times, and try recharging again.
Works for me!
Just be careful. If you are not technically inclined, have someone who IS give you a hand. Just have them read this before THEY do anything either!
I must say this again – you do the above at your own risk, although I never had any problems doing this myself, I can’t be responsible for anyone else!

Dell Vostro 1400 Charger Problems
Question:”My Dell Vostro 1400 charger stopped charging awhile ago, the dell vostro 1400 battery level stays at 74% for some time now. I don’t know why. I try taking out the battery and only use the charger for my Dell laptop and it works. So I thought the problem would be the battery, but getting a new laptop battery doesn’t fix the problem. What should I do?”
Solution:”
I believe your problem is the charger because Dell has a build in mechanism to make sure the laptop ac charger is Dell before allowing it to charge the battery. However, even if the charger is Dell, if the identifier chip inside the charger is broken, the laptop would refuse to recognize the charger and stop charging.
You can follow this Dell’s troubleshooting guide to try to get the laptop to recognize the dell ac adapter. The troubleshooting guide is a bit outdated though, so I don’t know if it applies to your laptop.
http://ftp1.us.dell.com/diags/R66243.htm
If the troubleshooting does not work, most likely, you will have to buy a new dell battery charger since the laptop cannot identify the charger as Dell anymore. However, before you buy a new charger, borrow someone else’s charger to make sure it will charge the laptop and that is the problem for sure. I wouldn’t want you to waste money on a part that is not necessary. Furthermore, seeing that buying a new vostro 1400 battery does not seem to solve the problem, I think that you can return the battery unless you want to keep it.
If you do have to buy a new charger, I would recommend buying one from www.laptop-battery-adapter.com. because they offer lifetime warranty and free shipping to all chargers at a good price. I think it is definitely worth it to consider buying charger from them.”
